Sawyer Breaks "Tie Breaker" Jinx to Win His First Frost-Bite
Jay Sawyer's San Juan 24 "the Thril" rounds a windward mark
{Oct. 4, 1998}       After finishing in second place each of the last two years via losing tie-breakers, Holdrege sailor Jay Sawyer dominates the 1998 Frost-Bite Regatta to claim his first October classic victory.

As the grand finale to HYC's 1998 racing season, the Frost-Bite Regatta will be the last opportunity for competitive sailboat racing on Harlan County Lake. The Frost-Bite is also the last chance to earn points toward HYC's season points championship.

Two days of "around the buoys" racing is planned on the water and on land, a party Saturday night should give everyone a chance to tell their sea tales. Traditionally, in October the winds are a little brisker and the weather a little cooler, so make sure to pack a little extra "anti-freeze" in your boat and come and join the fun.
